Now that we are a few days past the NFL Draft, everyone has had time to digest and evaluate the new Patriot players in their own way. Some people will say the Pats missed in the 1st round by selecting a glorified special teamer. Other people will say that the Pats addressed several areas of need but still did not come away with a sure-thing to improve the pass-rush. I believe the Pats had a solid draft, picking up strong character guys at areas of need. Here is a look at the group of players that will be coming to Foxboro for rookie mini-camp this weekend:
Round: 1, Pick: 27 (Overall: 27) Devin McCourty (CB) – Many will question the need for a corner in the first round but I think this was a strong pick. The Pats get a tough, physical player who will come in and contribute any way they need him to during his rookie year. Look for him to make an impact on special teams and as a nickel or dime corner next year.
