Patriots fans can breathe a sigh of relief. 4-time Pro Bowler Logan Mankins has been activated from the PUP roughly 6 months after having knee surgery and will almost definitely start week 1. He’s only missed 1 game in 8 years after going in the 1st round in 2005, but it was unclear if he’d be back for the start of the season after partially tearing his ACL in the Super Bowl. The Patriots’ tight lipped nature with injuries didn’t help either, but he appears to be fine. The bigger issue on the Patriots’ offensive line is right guard, as Brian Waters still has not reported and could retire rather than play his age 35 season. Waters made his 6th Pro Bowl last season in his first year in New England after spending 11 with the Chiefs and graded out as ProFootballFocus’ 4th ranked guard. In his absence, center Dan Connolly, a mediocre player, has shifted back to guard and Dan Koppen, who is coming off a broken leg that ended his 2011 season week 1 and heading into his age 33 season, will ...

Report: Patriots Not Expected to Sign Plaxico Burress

The Patriots flirted with the idea of signing Plaxico Burress, but it doesn't look like they're ready to take the plunge. The Pats don't plan to sign Burress in the wake of his workout with the team on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter (via Pro Football Talk). Burress would have given New England another solid red-zone target, but the team is already pretty...

New England Patriots Work Out Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress

Bill Belichick will always keep you guessing. With a stockpile of wide receivers already on his roster sheet, Belichick and the New England Patriots held a workout for free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress today. Plaxico Burress to work out for Patriots

Plaxico Burress may not leave the AFC East after all. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Burress is en route to New England for a workout with the Patriots. The free agent receiver has generated little buzz this offseason, largely due to his contractual demands, which he’s since lowered. He’s now willing to play for the league minimum, and that’s all he could...

AFC Division Picks: Are the Patriots and Texans the Favorites?

AFC EAST Patriots-Really a no-brainer here. The Patriots defense may be lacking at times, but their offense is just too potent, especially with the addition of Brandon Lloyd. Even though their pre-season game ended 7-6 over the Saints, everyone knows they are holding everything back. Josh McDaniels is back coaching Tom Brady. McDaniels was the offensive coordinator when Brady...
