The New England Patriots are not done tweaking their roster before the season opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon.

The team released C Matt Tennant, who they just claimed off waivers on Saturday, one day after the league wide roster cut downs.  Tennant, Boston College alum, was a 2010 5th draft pick, had played in 28 games (no starts) for New Orleans over the last two seasons.

Also released from the practice squad was RB Eric Kettani out of the US Naval Academy.  Kettani, an undrafted free agent spent time on the Patriots practice squad in 2011 prior to being ordered back to service by the Navy.

After he finished his tour of duty and was released from active service he re-signed with the Patriots and went through all the off season conditioning, OTA’s, mini camp and training camp.  He was released last Friday and after clearing waivers he was signed to the practice squad.

In the midst of the two releases the team signed running back Lex Hilliard, a 6th round pick in 2008 by the Miami Dolphins out of the University of Montana.  Hilliard played with Miami for four seasons before going to Minnesota this offseason.  He was released this past weekend by the Vikings in final cuts and chose the Patriots over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
