Found April 27, 2013 on NFL Injury Report:
Since Patriots second year running back Jeff Demps let slip on a radio interview that his priority was his track & field career, not football, it's been rumored that Demps was not far away from being released or traded. On the other side of the move, LeGarrette Blount's future in Tampa Bay has been anything but certain since the explosion of rookie RB Doug Martin. Martin was drafted 31st overall in 2012 and quickly became the Bucs 'running back of the future'. Patriots send Jeff Demps and a 7th round pick to the Buccaneers in exchange for LeGarrette Blount. Demps spent his entire rookie season on the IR and may never posses true RB talent. It's been reported that Demps has clocked the 40 yard dash at 4.18 seconds. If you're not sure how fast that is, I suggest you type his name into YouTube. If you are as impressed as I am, I still suggest you type his name into YouTube because his Florida Highlight real is entertaining - to say the least. Demps' 5'7" 175lb build might not make him the ideal RB but he has potential to contribute to any special teams unit. Blount, on the other hand, had an impressive rookie year in 2010 - 1,000 yards, 6 TDs. The last two years haven't been as fruitful. Blount is a big body with strong legs and pass-block ability. He finds himself on a crowded Patriots depth chart. If he makes the team, he will be used in the red zone and in third-and-short packages. Demps' contract extends 2 more years making $900,000 combined. Blount is on a one year deal worth $1.75M - $500k in incentives. If Blount makes it through Patriots camp, I'd look for him to receive and extension. It's worth noting that the Bucs used the 7th round pick (229 overall) to trade up in the 6th round sending the 196th pick + the 229th pick to the Vikings for the 189th selection. With the 189th pick the Bucs add another RB to their backfield - Mike James (University of Miami). The Vikings (who actually reclaimed a pick -229- that was originally theirs, and traded to the Patriots in a deal made in the 1st round) drafted DT Everett Dawkins from Florida St.

Patriots aggressively trying to move Jeff Demps

Jeff Demps decided he wanted to split time between track and football this year, meaning he'd miss about five games. Yeah, the Patriots are not down for that. They've been rumored to be wanting to move him ever since he made that clear. Apparently his agent thinks that some teams would be willing for him to miss that much time in the regular season. Let’s Hope That LeGarrette Blount Can Do THIS In A Patriots Uniform (VIDEO)

The Patriots trade for LeGarrette Blount could be the steal of the draft. New England sent returner Jeff Demps (who wants to play football when it fits in his track and field schedule) and a seventh round pick to Tampa for Blount who rushed for 1,007 yards as a rookie. If Blount keeps his head straight, he could be a force at the goal line and short yardage. Who knows he may break...

Belichick talks Jeff Demps trade and LeGarrette Blount

The Patriots were successful in their attempt to move running back/return man Jeff Demps after the Olympic Sprinter announced that his devotion to Track & Field would limit his time on the gridiron. In addition to Demps' open devotion to track, the Pats signed Pro Bowl return specialist Leon Washington this offseason as well. So the need to keep Demps quickly spiraled...

LeGarrette Blount Traded To Patriots

The Patriots have acquired running back LeGarrette Blount from the Buccaneers.Fantasy Spin:And all they had to give up was practice squad running back Jeff Demps and a seventh-round pick. LeGarrette Blount’s Troubled Past Is Concerning, But Potential Impact Too Tempting for Patriots

FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots are pretty well set at the running back position going forward. If there were any doubts, Stevan Ridley silenced them with a 1,200-yard season in 2012. But even that didn’t keep the Patriots from adding some depth at running back. While looking for a landing spot for wavering return specialist Jeff Demps, the Patriots came across an opportunity to...
