New England Patriots
New York Giants
By Mike McDermott-Safety Patrick Chung, who has not played since Nov. 6 against the New York Giants, is back in action for the Patriots, and he's made his presence felt on a pair of key plays. On Buffalo's first drive, he stopped wide receiver Stevie Johnson a yard short of a first down with a bone-jarring hit, setting up a fourth-down play that Buffalo would convert using a direct snap. Then, late in the fourth quarter, Chung blitzed on fourth-and-12 from the New England 36, hitting Ryan Fitzpatrick and forcing him to throw incomplete.
-Johnson caught four passes for 40 yards on Buffalo's first two possessions, including Fitzpatrick's first touchdown pass of the game. But Johnson has not played since; head coach Chan Gailey has apparently benched him for pulling up his jersey after the touchdown to reveal a "Happy New Year" shirt. That resulted in a 15-yard celebration penalty.
-The Bills got a bad break late in the second quarter, after Nick Barnett i...
BEST OF MAXIM
It took until a day after the season ended, but Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is a clean shaven man. Here’s the proof.
Fitz had been growing a beard since the last preseason game in August and was looking a lot like Grizzly Adams. No word on whether the beard will be grown again for 2012.
By Mike McDermottRyan Fitzpatrick's first-quarter touchdown pass to Stevie Johnson was momentous in that it took Johnson over the 1,000-yard mark for the season, but it also gave the Patriots a slice of history that they wanted no part of.
With the play, the Patriots have now surrendered 4,753 passing yards this season, which breaks the all-time record of 4,541 set by the 1995...
The Bills concluded a 6-10 season with an ugly 49-21 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday. Hear from coach Chan Gailey and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick below:
Coach Chan Gailey
The Bills were lit up by the Patriots 49-21 in Week 17.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 29 of 46 passes for 307 yards, with two touchdowns against a laughable four interceptions. C.J. Spiller pounded out 60 rushing yards on 13 totes, to go along with four catches for 40 receiving yards and a touchdown. Star receiver Steve Johnson also caught four passes for 40...
The Bills jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and that seemed to piss the Patriots off, as they scored the last 49 points in this game! Ryan Fitzpatrick had one good quarter and three bad ones yesterday as he completed 29 of 46 passes for 307 yards with 2 TD passes and 4 INTs (0ne was returned 21 yards for a TD by Pats’ CB Sterling Moore). Fitzpatrick also carried...
Good Ryan Fitzpatrick and Bad Ryan Fitzpatrick both showed up for the Bills on Sunday. The Dolphins carried DE Jason Taylor off the field at the end of his final NFL game. A big catch by TE Aaron Hernandez jolted some life into a slow-starting Patriots offense. Jets RB LaDainian Tomlinson hasn’t made any decisions…
Although the New England Patriots started off extremely slow, they finished strong and managed to clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs - which guarantees homefield advantage.
The first quarter was an absolute disaster. Ryan Fitzpatrick threw in two touchdowns and Tashard Choice ran in another one as the Buffalo Bills went up 21-0 in the first quarter.
Just like in the first quarter...
All that talk of starting fast and exacting revenge on the Bills was gone by the first few minutes. And by the time Buffalo was up by 21, it looked like it could get ugly.
Instead, the Patriots fought their way back… like they always seem to do. After 30 minutes, it’s Bills 21, Patriots 14.
A tip-drill interception by QB Tom Brady (11 of 15 for 134 yards and one touchdown) ended...
Happy New Year from 60 Max as we wrap up the 2011 regular season with the Patriots' final game against the Buffalo Bills. Heading into the postseason, there's no resting players today for the Patriots, who still have some unfinished business to attend to. When all is said and done, the top seed should be all theirs and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Oh, and...
