New England Patriots
So today we got the Broncos in town this week, and here are a couple of things to watch for. As always, follow me @CultOfBelichick-Safety play With Steve Gregory out, the safety position that has been plaguing the Patriots comes into even greater focus. We are going to have Tavon Wilson getting his first start against Peyton Manning, one of the best ever at manipulating safeties. Things could get a little interesting back there, but if they are able to play a solid game, and keep everything in front of them (which shouldn't be that hard given the current state of Peyton's arm), they should be fine here. One positive to bringing in Wilson is his tackling ability; he is a much better tackler than Gregory. This is likely to be incredibly important today with the hulking Demarius Thomas (6'3" 230 lbs) on the other side. All in all, we are going to have to hope these two can keep things clean back there against an apparently resurgent Peyton Manning.-Offensive line: can ...
BEST OF MAXIM
Following his 13-catch day, Pats receiver Wes Welker, commenting on how he was supposedly being phased out of the offense, made a joke about Bill Belichick.
After five weeks, it's clear the New England Patriots have changed some things on offense. Only problem is, if you blink, you may miss them.
The return of Josh McDaniel has sparked the innovation pace and how to dictate it. This past Sunday, it was on full display as Bill Belichick, McDaniels, and Brady went full throttle and Denver got throttled.
The Patriots, since 2007, have...
Patriots fans were encouraged this week by the sight of tight end Aaron Hernandez returning to the practice field, stirring speculation that the versatile playmaker could be suiting up for games within weeks. But, just as New England gains one of its elite tight ends, the team may also be dealing with serious injury complications to its other standout. Rob Gronkowski, who has been...
Wes Welker joked after the Patriots’ win over the Broncos on Sunday that it was nice sticking his big game in coach Bill Belichick’s face.
Welker had 13 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in New England’s 31-24 win, marking his third straight 100-yard game. That’s a big development for Welker, whom the Pats appeared to be phasing out of the offense the first two weeks...

According to ESPN Boston Mike Reiss, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski played all 94 offensive snaps Sunday against Denver.Fantasy Spin:Reiss said yesterday that he heard Gronkowski has been dealing with "significant pain" in his hip over the last two weeks, but evidently it wasn't serious enough to keep him out. Gronkowski only had four catches Sunday as the Patriots...
Just as the Patriots have firmly established that their new running backs will be able to carry the load moving forward, veteran Kevin Faulk has announced that he will officially retire from the NFL after 13 seasons. Faulk had hoped to remain with the team going into this season after fighting his way back from an ACL injury in 2010. But with the emergence of Stevan Ridley, Brandon...
Patriots running back Stevan Ridley recorded his third 100-yard rushing game of the season Sunday against the Broncos. Ridley rushed for a career-high 151 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.Fantasy Spin:New England ran the ball 54 times and threw it 31, with Ridley leading the way. The running back did have a late fumble that gave Denver life so we'll see if he finds himself...

Great game from the Patriots. I was nervous the whole time that Manning would come back in the end, as he always seems to do. If you read the comments from Broncos fans you would have never known Denver had a chance to win it though. They gave up pretty quickly and were constantly bashing their own players, particularly linebacker Joe Mays. Some of comments even wished that he got...
At long last, a much heralded meeting of the Gronks. That is the big narrative spotlight match-up of the day, right? At the very least, it’s the one we’re not exhausted by.
That’s Broncos fullback Chris Gronkowski on the far right of the Gronk family photo from The ESPYs. Yes, Chris Gronkowski is Fat Gronk. Being a fat guy, the form-fitting Nike jerseys are not his friend...
After staring at a possible 1-3 record early in the second half against the Buffalo Bills last week, the New England Patriots put up 45 points in the 2nd half to improve their record to 2-2. The team is starting to get healthy by the day, especially with the news that tight end Aaron Hernandez returned to practice this week. This week’s game will be trickier than last week...
Once again the new balanced attack from the Patriots paid dividends this week against the Broncos,...
