The Boston Globe's Greg Bedard suggested that the Patriots could release both Wes Welker and Brandon Lloyd this offseason.Fantasy Spin:Keeping Welker is of course New England's top priority, though Bedard thinks the Patriots would be fine relying on tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez to anchor the receiving corps. If the Patriots decide to give Welker (league-leading 118 receptions in 2012) the franchise tag, which seems like a fairly realistic possibility, the 31-year-old wideout would receive a salary of $11.4 million next season.

It may sound odd after leading the NFL in total offense in 2012, but some of the Patriots’ biggest offseason needs come on offense.
