The New England Patriots officially announced that defensive lineman Damione Lewis has been released, and that they've cut veteran offensive lineman Eric Ghiaciuc. Ghiaciuc has previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals as well as the San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs. He's a former Bengals fourth-round draft pick. "Eric has some flexibility, he's played the inside positions and has been in the league, so he has a little more experience there," Patriots coach Belichick told reporters when the team signed him earlier this month. "We felt with the preseason games coming up, and where our team is, that he would have a little bit more opportunity."
