Yesterday, the Patriots placed defensive tackle Mike Wright on Injured Reserve, ending his season because of concussions. It was the second straight year this happened.
Today, Wright addressed the media in a heart-felt injury, one I must be honest, almost caused me to choke up. Wright clearly wanted to play and he said, “I felt like I was going to be ready.“ On going on IR, Wright said, “I did not want to go on IR. I was looking forward to being a part of this team.”
In the end, he knew he had no choice. But what about his future?
“Right now, I’m just trying to get better,” Wright said. “I’ll make that decision with the coaches and doctors after the season. Right now, my focus is just getting everything better.”
