Patriots HC Jerod Mayo has perfect answer when asked about Javon Baker's wild comments
Eric Canha-USA TODAY Sports

When the New England Patriots selected Javon Baker in the fourth round, the wide receiver had a lot to say. And he was more than willing to share with the public.

Baker first went on Instagram live, expressing that he was shocked he was still available in the fourth round. And when speaking with reporters, his confidence was still very evident.

In his introductory press conference, the rookie from UCF said “I make people in wheelchairs stand up.” And more recently, he claimed that there aren't 10 rookie receivers in the NFL that are better than him.

So for the first time since this was all said, Jerod Mayo was asked about these comments when speaking with the media on Saturday prior to the second day of rookie minicamp.

“Honestly, like for me, I want these guys to have a personality, I want them to feel free to talk about certain things,” Mayo said. “Look, we’ll have rules of what to talk about. But now, once he puts it out there, he has to show it every day out here on the football field. If not, he’s just a talker and you start to lose the respect of the locker room and things like that. So, he said it, he put that out there, and now you have to show us.”

Six players spoke with reporters following the practice, but Baker and QB Joe Milton III were not among them.

So for now, we'll have to see what else Baker has to say on social media.
