With six straight victories and their fourth consecutive AFC East title already wrapped up, the New England Patriots are playing perhaps their best football of the season. And a large chunk of their recent run has come without two of their top players. So, imagine the big boost the Patriots will receive from having one of their best players on each side of the ball return for what is being billed as the game of the year. After practicing in a limited capacity all week, starting left guard Logan Mankins and standout rookie right defensive end Chandler Jones are both listed as questionable for Monday night's much-hyped matchup against the first-place Houston Texans (11-1), a game with major playoff ramifications for both teams. ''Just got out there a little bit this week and tried to move around. We'll see where it goes from today,'' said Mankins, who injured his ankle in the second half of New England's victory over Buffalo on Nov. 11 and has missed th...

Patriots Injury Report: Welker, Lloyd, Hernandez Questionable

The New England Patriots have a whopping 13 players listed as questionable on their injury report, including wide receivers Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker and tight end Aaron Hernandez. All three of Tom Brady’s targets were limited at practice throughout the week, as Welker and Hernandez are hampered by ankle injuries, while Lloyd is dealing with a knee ailment. Beyond...

Aqib Talib Must Improve on Slow Start to Patriots Career for New England to Stop Andre Johnson on Monday Night

The Patriots’ pass defense has improved since Aqib Talib came to Foxboro, but surprisingly, he’s been the weak link in the New England secondary. It will be key for Talib to play the best game of his brief Patriots career while he’s matched up against the Texans’ star wide receiver, Andre Johnson. After an off year plagued by injuries in 2011, Johnson has come roaring back...

Rob Gronkowski Visits Emerson College to Teach Social Media Class for a Day (Video)

Since Rob Gronkowski broke his forearm blocking for an extra point against the Colts, a lot of people have been speculating how the Patriots’ big man would spend his free time. But it’s doubtful that anybody saw this coming. The students at Emerson College were presented with a challenge: make contact with one celebrity and get them to agree to come guest teach their class. One...

Round Table: Monday Night Prediction

How important is Monday Night's game for the Patriots?  How do you predict the game will play out? Jason:  Monday night's game is a big one, no question. But I don't think any regular season game will make or break the Pats at this point. Five of the last seven Super Bowl champs have started out in the Wild Card round. Taking another step toward a bye would...

Pats offensive balance a challenge for Texans

Stevan Ridley has emerged as a top running back in his second pro season. He's not the only Patriots rusher Texans coach Gary Kubiak has to worry about. The revived New England ground game, with Shane Vereen and Brandon Bolden as backups, has brought balance to an offense that relied more heavily on quarterback Tom Brady in recent years. Ridley, in his second pro season, is...

Vote: Which Patriots Player Needs to Step Up Most Against Texans on Monday Night?

The Texans have one of the best defenses in football, which normally wouldn’t be that big of a problem for the NFL’s highest scoring offense. But with both Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman unavailable for Monday’s game — and Edelman done for the season, in fact — the Patriots could be in some trouble. Tom Brady is down two of his favorite targets, and to make matters worse...

Kevin Winter Gets D&C Update Gig, Ted Johnson Looks Great, Gruden On Patriots/Texans

It’s almost a weekend off for Patriots fans, with New England taking on the Houston Texans on Monday night, it’s a weekend to score points with your significant other by offering to do something on Sunday afternoon. Unless you have the Red Zone channel, that is. On CSNNE’s Quick Slants last night Tom E Curran had former Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson on as a guest from Houston...
