Patriots legend Julian Edelman accuses Wes Welker of 'making up stories' in 'The Dynasty' series
Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Multiple New England Patriots players have spoken out regarding 'The Dynasty' series. And most of it has been negative.

Matthew Slater and Julian Edelman were just the latest to voice some thoughts on the matter, specifically when talking about how former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is portrayed.

And Edelman took issue with how one of his former teammates specifically discussed a particular situation involving Bill Belichick and former tight end Aaron Hernandez.

During the sixth episode, which detailed Hernandez's time with the Patriots and how it all came to an end, former New England wide receivers Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker talked about how the tight end got away with far more than he should have during practice.

Welker specifically mentioned a time during practice, portraying it as if Belichick allowed his poor behavior to go on.

"I remember one time in practice, we’re doing punt return, we’re catching balls, and Aaron’s sitting there, ‘I’m the best returner on this team. Bill, why aren’t I back there?” Like literally a rookie sitting there talking like this. And Bill’s like laughing," Welker said. "And I’m like, ‘why does he love this guy?’ I don’t get it. I don’t get it. But when you’re that talented, a lot of people put up with a lot of stuff.”

However, Edelman was not having any of that. And instead, he defended the former head coach.

“Welker’s out here saying like Aaron Hernandez got away with murder — figuratively speaking — at practice, that’s not even true,” Edelman said on his "Games With Names" podcast. “Welker painted the picture he was like the king, like he got to do anything. I remember Bill ‘motherf***ing’ Aaron all the time.

"Come on, Welk. Trying to make up stories. We know you don’t like Bill.”
