According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via ProFootballTalk.com), after working out free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress on Sunday, the New England Patriots aren’t expected to sign him.
It’s not a good sign when the Patriots turn down an aging veteran. This could be a sign that Burress future in the NFL is in doubt at this point.

When Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin addressed the media regarding Chad Johnson's release on Monday, he was sure to point out that it wasn't just the receiver's weekend arrest that forced the team to sever ties. But while the troublesome Johnson may not have been "a good fit," as Philbin put it on Monday, there may be another receiver on the free-agent...
The Patriots flirted with the idea of signing Plaxico Burress, but it doesn't look like they're ready to take the plunge. The Pats don't plan to sign Burress in the wake of his workout with the team on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter (via Pro Football Talk). Burress would have given New England another solid red-zone target, but the team is already pretty...
The New England Patriots have spent the offseason collecting offensive weapons, and it now appears that they are going to work out another one. Veteran WR Plaxico Burress. ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reports on Twitter that the team is going to work out Burress this afternoon. Burress is the last of the four veteran wide receivers left on the free agency market this season.
Plaxico Burress may not leave the AFC East after all.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Burress is en route to New England for a workout with the Patriots.
The free agent receiver has generated little buzz this offseason, largely due to his contractual demands, which he’s since lowered. He’s now willing to play for the league minimum, and that’s all he could...
He hauled in the touchdown reception, which would go on to seal the Patriots first and only defeat of the 2007 season, served two years in prison for violating the New York state gun law and now maybe, just maybe will be dancing in the endzone in Foxborough, in a Patriot uniform. It seems strange [...]

The Patriots are practicing Sunday afternoon and coach Bill Belichick will speak to reporters afterward. Burress has recently been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys, according to NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. He has reportedly said that he is willing...

The Patriots are sure entertaining a lot of options at wide receiver. Aside from the sure-thing options such as Wes Welker, Deion Branch and Brandon Lloyd, the Pats have also have brought in Donte Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney to camp to try out for the team, as well. So, while it seems that New England already has enough options on the end of Tom Brady passes to put together a unit...
The Patriots, who already have a wealth of talent at the receiver
position, have invited former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress
to fly in for a workout, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
This is a little meta because Jamison Hensley was quoting Adam Schefter’s mailbag in creating his own blog post about Colt McCoy being a trade fit with the Green Bay Packers. Schefter’s thoughts are nothing new, really, except to say that Aaron Rodgers still needs a capable backup now that Matt Flynn has moved along to Seattle. Hensley’s take is what I am quoting and responding...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva of Rotoworld.com, Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill is making a run at winning the starting job.
“Looks more & more like he’s making a real run at the Dolphins’ starting quarterback job,” said Schefter.
