Tom Brady became the 14th player in NFL history to surpass 40,000 career passing yards during the first quarter of the New England Patriots' season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

Brady reached the milestone on a 28-yard pass to tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Brady also passed John Elway on the NFL's all-time touchdowns list when he hit Aaron Hernandez for a 23-yard touchdown later in the quarter. Brady now is in fifth place on the all-time TD list and has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 33 consecutive games.
