The Patriots made a minor roster move on Monday afternoon, releasing safety Kanorris Davis. Davis was promoted to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Saturday. He played on all four special teams units during Sunday’s 30-23 win over the Falcons. He filled in on special teams for cornerback Marquice Cole, who was released by the Patriots on Friday. He didn’t record a tackle in his NFL debut, but he was called for an illegal formation penalty on the Patriots’ first punt of the night. Mistakes even as minor as that one don’t sit well with Bill Belichick and may have impacted his place on the active roster. Davis, 23, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted rookie out of Troy earlier this year. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound safety may be re-signed to the Patriots’ practice squad soon, as the team still has one open spot. The Patriots also have an open spot on their 53-man roster now. It would be a great surprise if Cole re-claims that spot now or re-signs with the team in the coming weeks. Have a question for Luke Hughes?
