The Patriots made another roster move today, releasing special teamer Malcolm Williams. The seventh-round draft choice was promoted for the first time on Sunday, playing on special teams vs the Redskins. That he was released today is interesting. My guess is that he’ll end up back on the practice squad, while the team promotes a safety to take Patrick Chung’s place on Sunday. Chung has missed practice the last two days and been spotted in a walking boot. Maybe it’s Ross Ventrone? Or maybe Sterling Moore? Anyway, here is the release: (more…)

Video of the day: Patriots LB Dane Fletcher talked about his return to the field

For six weeks, Patriots LB Dane Fletcher sat and watched. While undergoing  a few surgeries on this thumb, he was biding his time and waiting. He returned against the Redskins, made seven tackles, and looked pretty stout. In the locker room on Monday, before the talk turned to the Broncos, Fletcher talked about it. Check out my video: **In compliance with the NFL’s ridiculous...

Patriots Mailbag: Aaron Hernandez, Rob Gronkowski Make Up for Lack of Reliable Third Wide Receiver

FOXBORO, Mass. -- The Patriots are getting ready for one of the most anticipated regular-season games in years, and it has the pregame hype of a clash with the Peyton Manning-led Colts or anyone-led Jets. As such, it's time to talk Tim Tebow, the Patriots' defense, wide receivers, Rob Gronkowski and plenty of other stuff in another edition of the Patriots mailbag. Jeff, I...

Julian Edelman Wont be Going to Jail

Patriots’ wide receiver/kick returner/new defensive back Julian Edelman was arrested (mug shot on the right) back on November 1st and charged with “indecent assault and battery” for allegedly groping a women during a Halloween party at Storyville night club on Exeter St. in Boston’s Back Bay.  Today the charges were dropped, and the Suffolk County DA’s office issued this...

Photochop Winners: Tom Brady Is Upset With Rex Ryan, Kanye West, Sold-Out Ugg Store

Tom Brady is a pretty unflappable guy. After four Super Bowl appearances (three rings) and countless game-winning drives, Brady is used to pressure and doesn't get rattled or lose his cool much. That's why seeing him look upset in a photo taken during a recent practice was so surprising. Earlier this week, we asked readers to submit their own altered photos explaining why...

Bonus video of the day: The Herald’s Patriots reporters break down a Tebow-filled week

It has been a hectic, Tim Tebow-filled week in Patriots land. Sure, sure, we discussed other things, but no one dominated the discussion like the Broncos quarterback. Before we ship out to Denver to get ready for Sunday’s matchup, colleague Karen Guregian and I broke down the week that was in our weekly video. Here it is, as edited by Bob Greim:
