New England Patriots right tackle Sebastian Vollmer "recently" had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. How recently? Wednesday.Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald was first to report the procedure Friday, and ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss confirmed that the scope did in fact occur two days ago. Vollmer, who is slated to hit free agency in mid-March if he isn't re-signed or franchise-tagged by the Patriots, battled "swelling" in the knee throughout the 2012 season but sat out only one game -- a Thursday night matchup with the New York Jets.The 6-foot-8, 320-pound starter graded out as New England's best pass blocker in 2012 by a pretty respectable margin despite giving up a team-most seven sacks.Vollmer missed most of training camp last summer with back problems, so despite his productivity, health will be a major factor in how the Patriots decided to handle him moving forward.
