Free agent Mike Wallace has been tied to the Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins, but Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports
that the New England Patriots are also showing interest in the dynamic wide
While the team may have some interest, Salguero notes this
is far different from New England actually extending a contract offer to
Wallace. Instead, he believes the Patriots could simply be attempting to up the
price the Dolphins have to pay to ink the free agent.
It’s unusual for the Patriots to make significant free agent
offers to players. Of course, there are always exceptions, and Wallace could be
as good a reason as any to break tradition. But Wallace is probably not a
likely match for New England unless he’s willing to take less of a free agent
contract to play for a contender and with quarterback Tom Brady.
