The New England Patriots traded the 27th overall pick in the first round that they got last year from New Orleans to Cincinnati for the 21st overall pick.  The Bengals also get New England’s third rounder at #93 overall. With the 21st selection of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Patriots selected Syracuse University DE Chandler Jones.  Jones who missed the first five games with a knee injury registered 4.5 sacks in just 7 games and surely would have been a Top 10 pick if it weren’t for the injury. He was a 2011 First Team All-Big East selection. His brother Arthur Jones plays for the Baltimore Ravens and his other brother Jon is a UFC World Lightweight Champion. It is the third time Bill Belichick has moved up in the first round also doing so in 2002 and 2003 before this year. Follow Steve on Twitter @SteveMichaelsII photo credit: AP Photo

Patriots trade up again and select Dont’a Hightower What in the world is going on, two trade ups!??! For those of you who have been paying attention you know I didn’t see the Hightower fit for the Pats because he seemed too much like Spikes. But there’s no question he’s a talented linebacker and I will be extremely curious to see how the Pats plan to use him. Whether it...

Patriots break tradition, bolster defense to help Tom Brady

Ex-Patriot McGinest Calls WR Wes Welker A "Diva" For Not Attending Minicamp

Ex-Patriots have been thoroughly conditioned (or brainwashed, depending on how you look at it) by coach Bill Belichick to put team first over personal goals at all times. Given that, it was not surprising to hear NFL Network analyst Willie McGinest blast Wes Welker for saying he would probably not attend the team's mandatory minicamp in May unless he receives a long-term contract...

Bill Belichick Shares a Lesson in Value With Individual Picks and Trades in Draft

FOXBORO, Mass. -- Patriots head coach Bill Belichick preaches value in the draft as much as anyone, and he came out of Friday's second and third rounds feeling confident in his team's return on their lone trade of the day. The Patriots traded down, shipping the 62nd pick to the Packers for the 90th and 163rd selections. At the end of it all, New England used the 90th pick...

New England Patriots Trade Up to Draft Dont'a Hightower

The New England Patriots haven’t traded up in a draft since 2003—they have now done it twice in this year’s draft. New England traded their No. 31 overall pick as well their fourth round selection to the Denver Broncos for No. 25 overall to select Alabama linebacker Dont’a Hightower. I absolutely love this pick. I have a huge pants tent-pole right now.  Hightower is a very...

The New England Patriots will have two first-round picks in the upcoming NFLdraft, which probably makes a lot of AFC teams nervous. 2012 NFL Draft - Draft Position - Ryan Tannehill (QB Texas A&M) Over 8 -150 Under 8 -110 If the Patriots stay in their spots at 27th and 31st, there's a great chance they'll be adding two quality players –- if not starters -- to a team...
