The Nosebleeds OLD:
The Patriots made two noteworthy signings today when they agreed to deals with former Raiders and Seahawks offensive lineman Robert Gallery
as well as veteran wide receiver Donte Stallworth
Gallery, 31, was drafted second overall by the Raiders back in 2004. He came out of college as an offensive tackle but later moved over to play offensive guard, where he saw much greater success. His versatility and ability to play multiple positions on the offensive line is probably what made him so attractive to Bill Belichick
Gallery's one-year deal gives the Patriots some much needed insurance on the front line, as starting left tackle and longtime Patriot Matt Light
is strongly considering retirement and veteran right guard Brian Waters
' future with the team is in doubt.
The Patriots also agreed to a one-year deal to bring back 31-year-old wide receiver Donte Stallworth
, who played in New England in 2007.
Stallworth has played for the Browns, Ravens, and Redskins since leaving New England and has combined for 24 catches for 391 yards and two touchdowns over the past two seasons.
He is the third wideout the Patriots have signed in as many days, as Brandon Lloyd
and Anthony Gonzalez
joined the team after each signing deals on Saturday.
With the new group of wideouts it is looking less and less likely that Deion Branch
, who is currently a free agent, will have a spot on 2012-2013 Patriots roster.
