TEAMS: Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots
Veteran running back and former Indianapolis Colt Joseph Addai agreed to a deal with the Patriots on Saturday. The 29-year-old Addai, along with Ryan Grant and Tim Hightower, all worked out for the Patriots on April 20.
Addai is coming off a hamstring injury that limited him to 12 games last season and isn’t a lock to make the Pats roster, as he’ll be joining a young running corps that includes Danny Woodhead, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, and possibly Kevin Faulk, whose status is still up in the air. Benjarvus Green-Ellis signed with the Bengals earlier this offseason.
If he does make the team, he won’t be an every down back like he was in Indy, where he rushed for 4,453 yards and 39 touchdowns over six seasons, but he will bring a veteran presence to an unexperienced Patriots backfield.
Report: Patriots sign veteran RB
The Patriots had brought in several running backs for a look, and it appears as if they have selected one to sign.
