It wasn’t easy in the nation’s capital (OK, Maryland technically), but the Patriots were able to come away with a win over the Washington Redskins, winning 34-27. The Skins were able to drive down within striking distance of tying the game with under a minute to play, but a Rex Grossman pass to Santana Moss got bobbled into Jerod Mayo’s hands, sealing the game for New England. The game was highlighted by the offenses of both teams, as neither defense could do much to stop the opposing team from moving the ball and scoring.
The Patriots have to thank their lucky stars that they have Tom Brady as their quarterback.

When Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski scored his second touchdown, he did his obligatory mammoth spike. Then, late in the 34-27 win over the Redskins, Gronk charged into the stands.
He spotted a Patriots fan in a Wes Welker jersey in the front row and… yup, he jumped onto his lap. It was hilarious.
“Gotta give him some love because he’s got first-row seats at an away game with his...
LANDOVER, Md. -- Even after unleashing two of the greatest spikes in the history of the once-mundane football celebration, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is still aiming for perfection. After his first touchdown of Sunday's 34-27 victory against the Redskins, Gronkowski spiked a ball so hard that it bounced up and traveled through the uprights. Just a week ago, he rocketed...
Physically, Rob Gronkowski met his match in Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.
Only a couple of inches and pounds separated the two, at least before Gronkowski broke free of Kerrigan's grasp in the third quarter en route to a 37-yard TD -- one of two touchdowns for the New England Patriots tight end in a 34-27 victory at FedEX Field on Sunday.
"Whoever is covering...

It's not news that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is just about the best in the business at his position, but on an afternoon in which he set the single-season touchdown record for tight ends in a 34-27 win over the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field, it was a play before that defining score — on that same drive — that really exemplified why Gronkowski has...
Rob Gronkowski is more than a mismatch. There are the New England Patriots tight end's Velcro-like hands. The agility of a dancer. And the second-year player stands 6-foot-6, would-be tacklers bouncing off his 265 pounds like Pop Warner players trying to bring down an elephant. "The guy's a gargoyle," Washington ...
Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots has set the mark for most touchdown catches in a season by a tight end, grabbing his 14th. Gronkowski's record-breaking score came on an 11-yard pass from Tom Brady with 5:49 left in the first quarter Sunday against the Washington Redskins. The previous record of 13 TD catches by a tight end originally was set by Antonio Gates in 2004...
Mike Shanahan says his captains need to keep their cool.
The Washington Redskins coach was referring to DeAngelo Hall's rough day in a 34-27 loss to the New England Patriots.
The cornerback and defensive co-captain gave up early on a play that turned into a 49-yard gain after a catch by tight end Rob Gronkowski. Hall later drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for disrespectfully...
