Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports that Patriots TE Alge Crumpler underwent shoulder surgery in late January for a ‘significant’ injury to the joint. He is currently rehabbing the shoulder but it is unclear when he'll be back at full strength. Crumpler’s rehab will almost certainly determine his fate in New England – and possibly the entire NFL since when you’re a 33-year-old No. 3 tight end, teams generally don’t wait long for you to get healthy. Crumpler, however, proved valuable for his blocking and veteran leadership at a position filled with rookies last season. The injury that led to his late January operation was actually something he played through during the season which could be problematic for the Patriots given that Crumpler was never listed on the team’s injury report.
