Madden Curse? New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is willing to take his chances.
Gronkowski is lobbying to be on the cover of the Madden '13 video game, according to NESN.
The standout tight end is telling his fans to "Get Hype'd and Get Gronk'd" in his bid to adore the cover of the popular game.
Then again, previous players who have been featured on the Madden game have wound up with forgettable seasons.
Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis, last year's cover boy, struggled through an injury-plagued campaign and finished with 587 yards and three touchdowns.
Among other marquee players who have had rough seasons after appearing on the cover are quarterbacks Michael Vick and Vince Young and running back Shaun Alexander.
Gronkowski set NFL records for touchdowns (17) and receiving yards (1,327) by a tight end last season. He suffered an ankle injury in the AFC Championship Game and underwent surgery after the Super Bowl.
