The Patriots announced Tuesday that their 2011 season will be dedicated to Myra Kraft, who passed away on July 20th after a battle with cancer. Players and coaches will honor Myra with a patch to be worn on their chests for every game this season.

The patch, donning Myra’s initials, is in remembrance of Myra’s life as well as her many contributions made to local and global communities and the influence her work had on the Patriots organization. “Myra touched the lives of so many people,” said Patriots All-Pro defensive lineman Vince Wilfork.

“My conversations with her were never about football. She always asked about my family and always made me feel as if I were a part of hers. By her example, she made us all want to give more and to make a positive impact in our communities. We are proud to dedicate the 2011 season to Myra Kraft.”

The Patriots will begin wearing these patches in their preseason matchup Thursday, August 11th against the Jacksonville Jaguars. During that broadcast, there will be a halftime segment about Myra’s legacy and the regular season home opener will have a moment of silence in her honor.
