According to Jeff Howe, the Patriots will release WR Brandon Lloyd before he is due to make a $3 million roster bonus at 4pm tomorrow.   The Patriots will release Brandon Lloyd, according to a source. — Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) March 16, 2013   Lloyd caught 74 passes for 911 yards and 4 touchdowns last season, but went through slumps where it looked like he couldn’t catch a cold in Antarctica.  It was clear that he and Brady were never completely on the same page, and the fans and media were never too happy with his performance. The Patriots have now parted ways with Lloyd and Welker, while bringing in Danny Amendola and Donald Jones.   Hopefully the team can find another target through free agency or the draft who can provide a deep threat and open up the field for Brady. There is speculation over whether or not Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will sign an offer sheet with the Patriots, but doing so would mean the Pats have to surrender a third round pick to Pittsburgh, leaving the Pats just four draft picks this year and just two in the first six rounds.  Sanders recorded 44 receptions and 626 yards with just one touchdown last season, but was expected to fill in for the absence of Mike Wallace, who recently signed with the Miami Dolphins.
