Found May 28, 2012 on The Football Fan Spot:
The Patriots got offseason steals with Andre Carter and Marc Anderson last offseason. They coached up two cheap free agent acquisitions in their scheme and they combined for 20 sacks. However, since they were signed to just 1 year deals, both are now gone. The Patriots drafted two defensive ends in Chandler Jones and Jake Bequette, but they probably don’t want to start just two rookies at the position this year. According to Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe, they could get a similar breakout season from free agent acquisition Trevor Scott. They’d really like that to be happen as they need a veteran pass rusher at the position. Scott has 13.5 career sacks in 4 season as a situational pass rusher, which doesn’t suggest much, but the Patriots have coached up similar type players before. Scott could be the week 1 starter opposite Chandler Jones so we’ll just have to see what happens.

My way too early 2012 NFL predictions – AFC edition

Which of these AFC quarterbacks will lead their team to Super Bowl XLVII? Seeing as how we are now closing in on the month of June and most teams are currently conducting or have already conducted their offseason OTAs, what better time than to stick my neck out and make some (very, very) early pre-season predictions? Since rosters are still at their pre-season maximums...

Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley expected to get the bulk of the carries for Patriots

Though they signed veteran running back Joseph Addai, ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss believes that 2nd year players Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen will get the “bulk of the carries” for the Patriots this year. This would make the most sense, but Bill Belichick is often unpredictable with his running backs and tends to go with experience over anything, which Addai represents. As it...

Shane Vereen working with Patriots’ 1st team in OTAs

A day after it was reported by ESPN Boston’s Mike Reiss that it would be Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley, not veteran free agent acquisition Joseph Addai, that would get the bulk of the carries for the Patriots, the Jeff Rowe of the Boston Herald is reporting that Shane Vereen is getting all of the 1st team work in OTAs. That being said, I wouldn’t read too much into Vereen being...

Patriots sign seventh-round pick Dennard, OL Richard

The Patriots signed rookie cornerback Alfonzo Dennard to a four-year contract. The seventh-round pick was the 224th overall selection in the 2012 draft. Veteran offensive lineman Jamey Richard, 27, also signed with the Patriots. Richard can play guard and center. He was a seventh-round pick of the Colts in 2008. Dennard was ejected from the 2012 Capital One Bowl for fighting...

Dan Koppen and Dan Connolly will compete for Patriots’ starting center job

Dan Koppen had been the Patriots’ starting center for years, but an ankle injury ended his 2011 season week 1. He resigned with the Patriots and is calling himself 100%, but the Boston Globe says it’s currently Connolly’s job to lose. Connolly is a pretty mediocre player ranking 27th out of 35 eligible centers on ProFootballFocus last year, but Koppen is 33 in September and...

Tom Brady fan does parody song "Call Me Brady" (Video)

It seems that almost everyone these days have been making parody music videos these days and sadly some of them are pretty terrible. However, the below clip done by this Tom Brady fan might actually be pretty good. So check out the new hit song, "Call Me Brady": (Courtesy of The Nose Bleeds)

Dick LeBeau Has Both A Big Nickel & Dime To Spare In 2012

With more and more offenses starting to use the hybrid tight ends like the New England Patriots use Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, defenses will be eaten alive if they do not match up with hybrid type defenses. The buzz words you will hear more and more this year, as far as defenses go, is “Big Nickel”. Pat Kirwan of SiriusXM NFL Radio recently wrote about the “Big Nickel”...

Patriots OTA’s: A time to learn

Before you can run, you must learn how to walk. Welcome to the New England Patriots off-season training activities, where teaching is a larger element than overall execution, where coaches as well sharpen their craft. So with that in mind, what have we been able to glean from the prior week? Reports have Brandon Lloyd looking very comfortable in the offense and very fluid, with...
