MVN:
The 16-0 New England Patriots had a great year offensively and Tom Brady & Co. overshadowing the defensive play of the likes of veterans Tedy Bruschi, Junior Seau, Mike Vrabel and Rodney Harrison.
Now in the playoffs and facing the Jaguars (someone commented they are now America's Team??), the Patriots defense has come under greater scrutiny.
The Jaguars dynamic running duo of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew will provide a fast and physical running game the Patriots have not typically seen in 2007.
The Patriots defense has not been convincing in handling the run this season compared to 2006. In 2006 the defense was 5th against the run with 94.2 yards per game versus 10th with 98.2 in 2007.
Hhhmmm?. interesting but I am not worried. Bill Belichick prepares his team to take away one aspect of the game. The Patriots defense will look to contain Taylor and Jones-Drew and limited the rushing yards and touchdowns. Offensively, the Patriots will score early and oftenagainst a physical Jaguar defense that is not the best at stopping the passing game. Combining the defensive and offensive efforts the Patriots will force the Jags to pass. Although Garrard has been efficient 18 touchdowns versus 3 interceptions, he does not have the weapons to beat the Patriots defensive backfield.
