In a minor roster move today, resigning running back Thomas Clayton, who was released earlier during training camp; and released offensive lineman Darnell Stapleton.
The move comes as the team is preparing for its preseason opener Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints, and is planning on how to divide up playing time at both running back and special teams. Clayton’s ability to take repetitions at running back and on special teams benefits the Patriots more on Thursday night, than the depth at offensive line Stapleton would provide in the preseason opener.
Check back later today for a full preview of tomorrow nights action at Gillette Stadium between the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots.
