According to Tom Curran of CSNNE.com, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd isn’t a part of the team’s plans for next season.
Curran reports that a league source has informed him that Lloyd isn’t even listed their 2013 projected depth chart, despite being under contract for another two seasons.
New England would have to be willing to pickup Lloyd’s $3 million option bonus in order to retain. They could save $2.5 million in cap space by cutting Lloyd loose in the next few weeks.
Curran points that Lloyd’s “enigmatic personality, aversion to physical contact, inability to find a consistent niche in the Patriots offense and financial disposability” as additional reasons to consider releasing him.
Lloyd, 31, has base salaries of $1.9 million and $2.9 million remaining on his contract. Many thought he would provide them with a much needed deep threat, but was never capable of having the kind of impact they were hoping for. He finished the season with 74 receptions for 911 receiving yards and fo

Patriots reportedly grew tired of Brandon Lloyd’s behavior, could cut him
When the New England Patriots brought back Josh McDaniels as their offensive coordinator last season, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that receiver Brandon Lloyd would not be far behind. Lloyd has had success in McDaniels’ offensive systems and seems to follow him wherever he goes, but the pair could finally split in 2013.

Report: Patriots, Welker talking contract
According to the Boston Herald, the New England Patriots and wide receiver Wes Welker are discussing a possible contract extension.
These discussions were held independent of Tom Brady‘s contract extension. However, Brady’s new deal has freed up $15 million in cap room over the next two seasons, which gives Welker and the Pats a little more room to work with.
It’s still unclear...
Willingly accepting less money, Patriots legend Tom Brady again proved to be the preeminent performer, and professional, in athletics today
Regardless of reports to the contrary, Patriots legend Tom Brady willingly accepted a significant pay cut and will earn a discounted $60 million over the next five years to provide New England with a massive amount of salary cap relief. The 6-foot-4, 225 pound Brady, whose restructured deal gives New England $15 million in cap space to ink the free agents they covet, will likely...

Tom Brady got a $30 million signing bonus for “taking less money”
So when all the praises have subsided, all that’s left are facts. And though it makes a good story that Tom Brady “took less money” for the sake of his team, the facts tell another story.
So as the details emerge from Brady’s deal that makes him richer and possibly hinders others from doing the same, we learn from Field Yates of ESPN Boston that Brady didn’t quite “take...
What Peter King didn’t tell you is that Tom Brady is getting a lot of money
Monday afternoon was pretty disgusting on Twitter. Members of the media and New England Patriots fans were fawning over the news that Peter King broke about Tom Brady’s new extension with the organization. It painted Brady as the most altruistic player in the history of the NFL. Why? Because the initial numbers released said “3 years for $27 million.” If that was a the actual...
Tom Brady’s Official Facebook Page Message: “Just Win”
CBS Boston:
It’s not uncommon these days for professional athletes to share nearly every detail of their lives via social media. Tom Brady doesn’t exactly fit into the group of players who tweet or share much personal information on the Internet, but the quarterback made a special exception on Monday.
Brady signed a three-year contract extension worth $27 million, significantly...

Ryan Swope Says People Are Shocked He Ran 4.3 40 Time Because He’s ‘White'
In 1992, Woody Harrelson proved to Wesley Snipes that, in fact, white men can jump. Recently, Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope showed NFL scouts that white men can run, too. Swope had a terrific showing at last week’s NFL combine and even wowed scouts with his speed, running a 4.34 40-yard dash, which was apparently unexpected given his skin color. His speedy 40 time...

Patriots A Potential Landing Spot For WR Mike Wallace?
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com writes that the Patriots could target a “big receiver on the outside” during free agency now that they’ve freed up some extra cap room by restructuring Tom Brady‘s contract.
Rapoport specifically mentions that wide receivers Dwayne Bowe and Mike Wallace could both be in consideration. Rapoport adds that Bill Belichick has offered consistent...
Patriots' project Jeff Demps returning to track
Jeff Demps likes football. He seems to like track more. Demps, the former Florida Gators tailback and Olympic track runner, was signed by the New England Patriots last summer to a three-year contract. He still wants to honor that deal, but he'd like to honor his main talent, as well. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Demps told the Patriots he plans on competing...
Patriots Not "Actively Shopping" QB Ryan Mallett Yet
At some point between now and 2014, the Patriots will likely ship out back-up quarterback Ryan Mallett. However, according to a report from Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, the Patriots have yet to begin in active discussions in any Ryan Mallett trade.
That doesn't mean they aren't listening to offers, if any are even being received, or preparing to explore a trade avenue...
