Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne has comical reaction to NFL banning hip-drop tackles
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

While defensive players across the NFL are upset over the latest NFL rule, offensive players have a different opinion. And that's because their lives just got a lot easier.

On Monday, at the NFL Annual Meetings in Orlando, Florida, the league officially decided to ban hip-drop tackles to improve player safety. Since the announcement, many players have taken to social media voicing their opinion on the matter. Most have been defensemen, but wide receiver Kendrick Bourne couldn't help himself.

He posted a video of himself on his Instagram story reacting to the news.

"Hey ya'll. No more tackling low. Don’t hip drop or you’re going to give me a first down," Bourne said.

"Yes!," he added with a laugh.

This is very different from what some of his teammates have been saying with Ja'Whaun Bentley, Jonathan Jones, Anfernee Jennings voicing their frustration on social media.

However, another receiver weighed in on the matter. And his answer was very diplomatic.

"There are two sides to this. I'm all for player safety and hip drop tackles are dangerous, but on the other hand, how is a defensive player supposed to tackle if we take away every method of tackling? #HealthyDebate," Patriots legend Julian Edelman wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The defense's job has continued to become harder with all of these new rules and this for sure will make things even worse for them. That explains why receivers (including Kendrick Bourne) are happy.

But it's clear that not everyone feels the same way.
