Earlier this season, New England Patriots WR Wes Welker was on pace to break the single season receiving yardage record, but he has now fallen off that pace. The record is held by WR Jerry Rice. While a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Rice set the record in the 1995 season. After recording 122 receptions, Rice logged 1,848 yards and 15 touchdowns. In the 2011 NFL regular season, passing yardage is being racked up at a record pace. Over 20 wide receivers are on pace for posting a 1,000 yard season. New England Patriots WR Wes Welker started out the season posting some monster games. He opened the season with 160 yards against the Miami Dolphins in Week One and put up 217 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week Three. Welker has cooled off somewhat over the past four weeks and has fallen off his record pace. With 72 receptions, Welker has 1,006 yards for an average of 111.8 yards per game. At this rate, Welker will fall just short of Rice’s record at 1,786 yards. You h...

Welker now the poster boy for slot stars

Unless you're an SMU fan -- or scouting guru Mel Kiper -- you may not have Cole Beasley's name on the tip of your tongue. Beasley is the Mustangs' slot receiver, and although he's been toiling in relative anonymity for am average team in an oft-ignored conference, he's an interesting case study. Patriots release injury report: WR Wes Welker now limited with a knee injury

The Patriots practiced today with three key parts. LB Brandon Spikes (knee) and LB Dane Fletcher (thumb) have been missing, and CB Devin McCourty (shoulder) was also not present. That, we knew. The Patriots received some positive news today, as CB Devin McCourty was out at practice just a week after separating his shoulder. That’s good. The bad? He was limited and probably won’t play. We know that because McCourty was listed as doubtful on the injury report that just arrived. Figure he’s out, barring something crazy, but that does seem to indicate it’s a one-week...

Thinking they were taking a private tour, the Seymour family went to Gillette Stadium. Tom Brady, Wes...

It doesn't hurt that luck is favoring Patriots

Forget Foxborough. With the run of good fortune the Patriots have enjoyed this week, Bill Belichick should take a ride to Foxwoods. The way things have been going for the Patriots, he’d walk away with enough earnings from the casino for a new contract for Wes Welker and money for a veteran assistant coach.
