Matthew Slater is humbled by his second straight Pro Bowl selection. Just don't send him an airplane ticket to the game in Honolulu a week before the Super Bowl. One day after being chosen for the Pro Bowl, the New England Patriots' special teams captain said Thursday he'd rather be eating gumbo in New Orleans than pineapple in Hawaii. The championship game is scheduled for Feb. 3 in New Orleans. Slater would rather be preparing for that than playing in the Pro Bowl. The Patriots (11-4) have clinched the AFC East title and can finish in any of the top four spots in the conference seedings. They end the regular season Sunday at home against the Miami Dolphins (7-8). --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

Rob Gronkowski still isn’t ready to return

According to Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick told the media that tight end Rob Gronkowski still isn’t ready to play. Patriots Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski, Logan Mankins, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, Matt Slater Named to Pro Bowl

The Patriots — as long as they don’t make the Super Bowl — will be well represented in the 2013 Pro Bowl with seven players. The Patriots finished third in the NFL, behind the 49ers (nine) and the Texans (eight) in NFL Pro Bowlers. Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski, Logan Mankins, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo and Matthew Slater were all named to the AFC squad, according to...

Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes jokes that he left Santa cocaine and Jack Daniels (Picture)

While most of us left milk and cookies for Santa, it appears that New England Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes decided to leave him something a little more risque. Check out this Twitter post that he left on his page: (Courtesy of Backyard Sports Blog)

Drew Bledsoe jokingly rips Tom Brady's speed

For some reason Bledsoe ended up deleting this tweet and then going with the much safer "Way faster than Tommy". While I guess he was probably concerned about some backlash from his swearing, that probably wasn't necessary. The original tweet, above, was way funnier.I don't think anyone would doubt Bledsoe is faster than Tom Brady. Brady's been asked pretty...

Vote: If He’s Cleared, Should Rob Gronkowski Sunday Versus the Dolphins?

In sports, it’s a conundrum nearly as old as the ball itself. When staring down at a sure-thing playoff slot but with more regular season to go, do you rest your players, or keep them on the field? Unfortunately, with the patriots and tight end Rob Gronkowski, it’s a little more complicated than even that. Gronkowski has missed every game since Week 11 when he fractured his forearm...

Seven Patriots will play in Pro Bowl, do you even care?

I for one could care less. Who watches this game? It's great for players to be honored with a pro bowl selection but it becomes such a joke of a game. After injuries, etc. there's always a ton of players that get into the Pro Bowl despite probably not deserving it. Andy Dalton played in the Pro Bowl last year. Bill Belichick: Rob Gronkowski "not ready yet"

Gil Santos Winds Down a Career

For many New England Patriots fans the baritone sound of Gil Santos’ voice meant that another fall was taking shape in New England.  For 36 years (1966-1979, 1991-2012), Santos has been the voice of New England Patriots football. In 1966 Santos and the legendary Bob Starr replaced Bob Gallagher and Ned Martin in the broadcast booth and it was the start of a New England love...

Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots: Week 17 NFL Pick

Miami Dolphins (7-8) at New England Patriots (11-4) I can’t handicap week 17 games like I do other games (maybe that’s a good thing because I’ve had a rough few weeks), because one of the things I do is look for upcoming distractions and dynamic changes on their schedule. In week 17, I can’t do that, so instead I have to look at what this game means do these two teams. The...

NFL.com has Bruce Arians above Bill Belichick as Coach of the Year

In a recent piece on the Coach of the Year award, NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal breaks things down in tiers. The top tier being the top choices for the award. The names on that list include Bruce Arians, Pete Carroll, Mike Smith and Jim Harbaugh. No Belichick. Here is Rosenthall's reasoning for leaving Belichick off that top tier of coaches.Belichick's defense hasn't quite...

Round Table: Late Season Momentum

After a lackluster performance against the Jaguars with many starters out of the mix, how concerned are you that the Patriots may be a little rusty for their opening playoff game? Stephen:  Despite the stinker the Patriots threw up in Jacksonville, I'm not concerned about them being rusty for their opening playoff game. After Tom Brady ripped into the team in the locker...
