The New England Patriots have waived LB Dane Fletcher, days after tearing his ACL in the team's opener against the Saint Louis Rams. They also waived WR Britt Davis. That clears up two roster spots to fill some slots while other players recover from injuries.

With Fletcher out there on waivers, any team can pick him up. The Patriots made a similar move for an injured player when they picked up TE Jake Ballard after the New York Giants decided to waive him. The thought being he'd be ready to play in 2013. Fletcher falls into that same category.

Would'nt be a stretch to say Fletcher may be a New York Giant by week's end. Although Tom Coughlin said he had no problem with what the Pats did, he was a little peeved.

Flecther is the type of player Belichick likes, a versatile LB who can play inside and outside. Aftert his injury, Belichick said that Fletcher “might be out for a while” and that “it doesn’t look very good.”

Like Coughiln's feeling on Ballard, Belichick also would like to see Fletcher clear waivers and return to team on injured reserve.
