New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is friends with many Dallas Cowboys players and coaches. He also lives in the North Texas area. But that doesn't necessarily mean he wants to leave his current job to become the Cowboys' head coach.Payton, who was suspended for the season for his involvement in the Saints' alleged bounty scandal, spoke Tuesday at a PwC SMU Athletic Forum luncheon at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. When asked if he would ever like to be the head coach of the Cowboys, Payton responded, "I'd rather answer a bounty question."His humorous answer was met with a loud roar of laughter."Right now my focus is on staying with New Orleans and really getting back on the sidelines," he added shortly after.Payton spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Cowboys under Bill Parcells. Before that, he was quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator with the New York Giants when Jason Garrett was a backup quarterback for the team.Beca...

NFL First Quarter Report Card: New Orleans Saints

Even though I predicted that the Saints would not make the playoffs this year, I didn’t see this kind of start coming. A team coming off of the kind of offseason hangover that New Orleans experienced with the whole “bountygate” scandal doesn’t just shrug something like that off. However, to start 0-4 and play as sloppy and uncoordinated as they have, on both sides of the...

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees sent an email to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday asking him if Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Joe Vitt can attend this coming Sunday’s game, so they can be in attendance when he attempts to break another passing record. Goodell ended up granting Brees’ wish. “I am excited for our team and...

New Orleans Saints: Week 5 NFL Power Rankings (#26)

Last week: 26 (+0) Record: 0-4 The bad news is the Saints are 0-4. The good news is that they looked a lot better last week, going into Lambeau Field and playing a solid game in a close loss to the Packers. There’s understandably adjustment period to live without your Head Coach, especially a Super Bowl winning one like Sean Payton, but it should get easier on a weekly basis. Plus...
