For the second straight game, the league office has come calling with fine letters for Bengals players.
Defensive tackle Domata Peko has received a $7,500 fine and wide receiver Andre Caldwell has been fined $5,000 following their actions in last Sunday’s 34-12 win over Seattle. Both were deemed for unnecessary roughness.
Peko’s fine is the result of ripping the helmet off Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch during a third-quarter running play. Caldwell’s was for what the league office called “unnecessarily striking an opponent’. That opponent was Seahawks cornerback Brandon Browner in the second quarter following a 7-yard run by quarterback Andy Dalton. Caldwell was penalized on the play, but there were offsetting penalties on the play, while Peko was not.
Browner did escape a fine. Many thought he would be fined for his suplex on Jerome Simpson, which did receive a personal foul penalty.
