(By Ron Green Jr., rgreenjr@charlotteobserver.com) Julius Peppers signed a contract tender today assuring he will remain with the Carolina Panthers in 2009, according to the team's Web site. The team has scheduled a 2:40 p.m. conference call to discuss the signing. The Panthers had put the franchise tag on their star defensive end after the end of last season when Peppers indicated he wanted to play for another team.
