Rex Grossman isn’t the only player taking over as starter for the Washington Redskins today as the team faces the Miami Dolphins. Second-year inside linebacker Perry Riley will start over veteran Rocky McIntosh, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. McIntosh started the year off on a strong note, but has struggled the last couple weeks both in the tackling and pass-coverage. Teams know they can run up the middle, particularly at McIntosh, who starts at that inside linebacker spot next to London Fletcher. Read full article >>

Mike Shanahan knew Rex Grossman was starting on Friday

After Sunday’s Redskins loss, Mike Shanahan told the media that he notified his quarterbacks he was going back to Rex Grossman on Saturday. The media reports about this change, of course, didn’t begin trickling out until Sunday morning around 9:30. But at least one media powerbroker knew what was going on by Friday. Read full article >>

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan shouldn’t drink before pressers

A word to Washington Redskin head coach Mike Shanahan, you really shouldn’t drink before conducting pressers. This afternoon, Shanahan told reporters that QB Rex Grossman will be the starter moving forward, but what was really disturbing to Redskin fans, was that Shanahan said that Grossman was “impressive” in the Redskins 20-9 loss yesterday. Shanahahn told reporters...

Rex Grossman Is Still the Best QB Option for Skins, Despite Loss

Rex Grossman returned to the field on Sunday, which we should all agree is a good thing for the Redskins. No, they didn’t win, but Beck not being the quarterback was positive for several reasons. Here’s three of them: 1. He actually moved the offense. And he does this by throwing to wide receivers, some of which are actually beyond 10 yards downfield. Grossman completed 12 passes...

First Quarter Fakeouts

AP Image The Redskins employed a bit of trickery in their pregame lineups, waiting until the last minute before announcing that Rex Grossman would start at quarterback in place of John Beck, and linebacker Perry Riley would start in place of Rocky McIntosh. Both surprise starters had a shaky start on their respective first drives, with Grossman going three-and-out with a sack, and...

Redskins QB Rex Grossman To Keep The Starting Job

Rex Grossman started Sunday against the Miami Dolphins and—according to head coach Mike Shanahan—will keep the job for the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys as the Redskins (3-6) try to break a five-game losing streak. “Rex is going to be our quarterback,” Shanahan said. “When you go with a veteran quarterback, it’s pretty easy—because usually that situation stays pretty...

Shanahan makes the inevitable call: Redskins going back to Grossman

This week, the Titanic's deck chairs will form a triangle. Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan once said that he was staking his reputation on the quarterbacking acumen of Rex Grossman and John Beck. Many skeptical and cynical Redskins fans may have wondered at the time just how much of a reputation Shanahan had left to risk. And after a half-season in which his team...

Rex Grossman to Start for the Redskins

According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, quarterback Rex Grossman will start today against the Dolphins in place of John Beck. This move makes a lot of sense for the Redskins,  since the offense has been sstagnant with Beck at the helm. I believe Grossman is in the position now,  that if he can [...]

Redskins sit Beck, start Grossman at QB again

Rex Grossman is back as the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins.

Grossman to start against Cowboys

The Washington Redskins will stick with Rex Grossman at quarterback for Sunday's game against Dallas.

Redskins-Dolphins Winners & Losers

Handing out labels after Skins games. Today, a 20-9 depression-fest in Miami. Winners Ryan Kerrigan — 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 5 tackles. Continues to look like a terrific first-round draft choice. Rex Grossman — Sure, he threw 2 interceptions and couldn’t muster a touchdown. But Grossman got back on the field, moved the team, and generally looked more like an NFL quarterback...

Beck Benched; Rex To Start

Just when you thought John Beck was going to get the chance to beat his former team -- and win his first game in the NFL -- there's word that he's been sent back to the bench in favor of Rex Grossman. The NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora reported Sunday morning that Grossman would start against the 1-7 Dolphins, and that head coach Mike Shanahan told the team of the switch...
