This week playoff races usually start to sort themselves out as teams are able to establish themselves late in the season. This season is a little different as this Sunday only made the playoff picture even cloudier. Dallas, Washington, Minnesota, and Seattle all helped their cause while the Giants, Steelers and Bears put themselves in very intriguing positions.   The race for MVP, like the playoff race, is a very compelling one. In past years we have seen a couple of stud players run away with the year’s biggest individual award. However, this year it has be a very interesting three-player race.  Adrian Peterson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady all make compelling arguments for this year’s MVP award. Aaron Rodgers has perhaps snuck into the conversation but, at this point, would be a long shot.   This week Adrian Peterson ran wild for 212 yards making 2000 yards a very attainable goal. Peterson has put a team with essentially no passing game on his back and has his squad in a ...

Adrian Peterson breaks off 82-yard touchdown run against Rams (Video)

If I had a vote for the NFL MVP of 2012, I would give mine to Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. During today's blow-out against the St. Louis Rams, watch as AP breaks off this 82-yard touchdown run where he changes course mid-run:

Indy hoping to make most of 2nd chance at playoffs

The Indianapolis Colts don't want to let another chance to wrap up a playoff spot slip away. Indy (9-5) can earn its first playoff berth of the post-Peyton Manning era with a win Sunday at Kansas City or a Steelers loss to Cincinnati. The Colts want to take care of business themselves after a sub-par performance at Houston. The Colts are 8-3 since Bruce Arians took over as...

Peterson runs for 212 in Vikings win

Adrian Peterson had a season-high 212 yards, including an 82-yarder for a touchdown to lead the Vikings to an important win.

Vikings protect playoff potential in St. Louis

The Minnesota Vikings were well aware of their failures on the road heading into Sunday's pivotal game at St. Louis. The Vikings were 1-5 on the road and fighting for slim playoff chances against the Rams, who had won three games in row and were trying to stay alive themselves for the postseason. Minnesota, at least in a dome on the road, made itself at home and put together...

Adrian Peterson Receives Cheers From Greg Jennings as He Chases NFL Rushing Record

Adrian Peterson is in the middle of a historic season. His pursuit of the NFL’s single-season rushing record has been so captivating, in fact, that even some of his fiercest rivals are rooting for him. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings, during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday, talked a little bit about Peterson’s quest to break Eric Dickerson‘s 28...

Patriots’ offense is more potent than the 2007 version

I know that’s hard to believe right, but the current Patriots’ offense is more potent than the 2007 version. In 2007, the Patriots went undefeated with Tom Brady and Randy Moss setting a few records along the way. How could an offense that went undefeated during the regular season in 2007 be even more dangerous now, especially after losing a speedster and play-making weapon...

Beaten by their own offense, Ravens lose to Denver, 34-17...

On a day when a Baltimore defense inundated with injury was able to give Peyton Manning everything he could handle and more, the Ravens offense did not show up like the cavalry they were supposed to be. In fact, Flacco and company gave points away to Denver. It was a disgraceful performance. It wasn't all on Joe Flacco, although Joe admitted after the game the pick-6 he...

Indianapolis Colts could make push for division title with win at Houston

The Indianapolis Colts have exceeded even the wildest of expectations this season. The departure of Peyton Manning? A rookie quarterback and a young roster overall, working against a salary cap strapped with dead money? The Colts’ task was daunting entering the season. And then, three weeks in, the team’s new head coach, Chuck Pagano, was diagnosed with leukemia and would miss...

NFL Honors Sandy Hook Victims

There are few times in history that can be called “watershed moments,” moments in time where the world as we know it changes forever and time can only be recalled before and after that event. Pearl Harbor, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Watergate, September 11th; these are just a few of the moments in U.S. history that we will never forget. Friday’s horrific tragedy...

Bill Belichick Made Right Decision to Go for It on Fourth-and-Short, No Matter How Badly Patriots Executed

You’d think it was Peyton Manning and the Colts out there with the season on the line. It wasn’t. It was the 49ers in a late-season slugfest, in a game the Patriots had no business winning but had somehow fought their way back into. So why are people upset that Bill Belichick went for it on 4th-and-1? The 4th-and-1 in the final minutes of the Patriots’ loss to the 49ers on...

Week 15 Fantasy Football Recap – The GOOD, The BAD, The UGLY

I’m sitting here watching my fantasy season come to an end, barring a miracle second half from Tom Brady. I can’t complain. I have had a great regular season, ranking first and second in three of my five leagues. And that’s fantasy football folks! Just because you have a great regular season, it doesn’t mean a thing in the playoffs. And I think, in the end, that’s what...

The Most Important Thing You’ll Read About Today: Shaun White Got A Haircut

I don't want to know what he's planning to do with that.If there’s one thing I’ve learned from being the editor-in-chief of a sports comedy blog, it’s that dating a supermodel can be rough on your hair. Remember when Tom Brady hooked up with Gisele Bundchen and his hair started getting weird, and how even now he’ll show up to random charity events with spit-curl...

Game Thread: Vikings vs. Rams Starts our Playoffs in Week 15

It's week 15 in the NFL and essentially this is the start of the Minnesota Vikings playoff run! If we lose today, you might as well put a high heel in our nuts, because the remainder of the schedule is not only brutal, but ... well, we've lost a ton of games then too, and you can't usually get into the playoffs if you suck. It's pretty simple. So as you watch...

49ers 41, Patriots 34

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The San Francisco 49ers blew a 31-3 third-quarter lead but managed to pull out a wild 41-34 victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday night. The win clinched an NFC playoff spot for the Niners (10-3-1), while the Patriots (10-4) saw their seven-game winning streak end. The loss also New England's 20-game home December winning streak and a 13-game...
