I cannot imagine seeing Peyton Manning playing this season.  At least, that is what I thought when I heard he was undergoing surgery on his neck, again.   I mean, you have to shut it down, right?  Why risk it?  Peyton seemed so subdued in interviews with the realization that his 2011 season would stay on the shelf.  It is typical for athletes to sound depressed during surgery, so maybe it was part of that.  But at the same time it just didn’t make sense for him to comeback, especially after signing that lucrative contract.

But now reports are that rehab is progressing well and Peyton is hopeful to play again this season. Maybe Peyton is getting stir-crazy.  He has been forced to sit in the coaches box on Sundays, and was just give the OK to return to the sidelines. I can only guess that Peyton is really struggling seeing his team winless.  Fans definitely are, so must be driving the guy who had started every single game from his rookie year, 13 straight seasons.  Peyton knows that him getting hurt is the reason the team is terrible. He knows that he is the MVP.  He knows that his injury is a red flag to management that they need to find a successor in case he goes down again or when he gets to his contract.  You can’t tell me that Peyton isn’t concerned with who the Colts select if they end up with the first pick. It will be Andrew Luck.

Peyton Manning is going to everything that he physically can to get back on the football field.  I think any doctor would be crazy to clear him this season to play, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they did.   Peyton is a competitor and he wants to play, and he doesn’t want to look over his shoulder in the process either.
