Saints-quarterback-drew
There are players in the NFL that are worth the money, and they get paid for it.  Here is a list of the top 10 players in each conference that have the highest salaries of 2012.   NFC   QB Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints:  $15.76 million   Brees is poised to make the highest salary of the 2012 season in the NFC.  There is no doubt that he is worth the money New Orleans will be paying him, but they need to try to lock him up long-term.   QB Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles:  $12.5 million   Vick is a quarterback that after getting out of jail three years ago had a breakout season and signed a huge contract.  Vick, who had a subpar year in 2011, needs to earn his money with good play this season.   QB Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams:  $12 million   Bradford was drafted two years ago out of Oklahoma and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2010.  Bradford is a good quarterback and with some extra help, he is poised to have a good season in 2012.   DE Jared Allen, Minnesota Vik...

Report: Peyton Manning has best practice yet

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning encourages teammates during NFL football practice at the team's training facility in Englewood, Colo., on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. (AP Photo/Ed Andrieski) Denver media have only been allowed to watch five of the Broncos‘ 12 practices to date, but according to the Denver Post‘s Mike Klis, Wednesday’s session was Manning‘s best...

New Orleans Saints: QB Drew Brees Contract Extension Close but not Close Enough

The rumors continue to circle around Drew Brees and his new contract extension. Originally, ESPN reported the two sides were not anywhere close to agreeing to a deal, but then NBC Sports said the deal was closer than expected. Now, the negotiations are expected to go down to the wire according to NBC Sports. Honestly, that probably does not mean a whole lot to most fans out there...

Report: Saints, Drew Brees negotiations will go down to the July 16th wire

Getty Images According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com, the contract talks between the New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees will likely go down to the July 16th wire.  If a deal doesn’t get done by then, Brees will have to play out the 2012 season under the franchise tag. I strongly believe that if a deal isn’t finalized before the July 16th deadline, Brees will...

New Orleans Saints really need QB Drew Brees now

The New Orleans Saints and QB Drew Brees have been locked in contract talks this offseason, but the team needs him more than ever after Wednesday. New Orleans had been conducting team OTAs and mini-camps without the services of Drew Brees with QB Chase Daniel taking the majority of the snaps with the first team. Daniel fractured his thumb on Monday and will not be able to throw the...

Manning looks good heading into break before camp

The Denver Broncos wrapped up their offseason workouts Thursday with another spirited practice marked by potent, precise passes. One thing is abundantly clear after 13 offseason practices, six of which were witnessed by the media: Peyton Manning is back. The four-time MVP has shown no ill effects of the nerve issue that caused weakness in his throwing arm last year, required four...

Source: Saints, Brees deal going down to mid-July deadline

Even with the broken right thumb sustained this week by backup Chase Daniel, an injury that left New Orleans with only two functional quarterbacks -- Luke McCown and Sean Canfield -- for the final day of the club's minicamp, Saints' officials weren't exactly burning up the phone lines checking out potential training camp arms. And it was only partly because the Saints...

Can Peyton pass as well as he leads?

As Peyton Manning begins to reinvent himself at 36 years old, trading a horseshoe on his helmet for an entire horse, it's easy to distinguish Manning the leader from Manning the passer. Through the high walls that separate the Denver Broncos practice fields and facility parking lot, the first voice a visitor hears is Manning's -- firm, familiar, not quite a southern drawl...

New York Giants: Is Eli Manning Vastly Underrated By His Peers

Eli Manning was ranked as the No. 31 player in the NFL by his peers. Manning was fifth among quarterbacks (only behind Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Roethlisberger), which isn't far from the truth (should be ahead of Roethlisberger). He passed for nearly 5,000 yards and had the fourth-highest yards-per-attempt average in football during an impressive, yet somewhat inconsistent regular...

Peyton Manning is Still the Same Guy; Good One Jim Irsay

As mini-camps are underway and fans get to see, or hear how their teams look with their new additions there are definitely some eyes and ears in a few places  more than others. New York Jets acquired Tim Tebow from Denver this off-season to add depth to their quarterback spot. With the addition of Tim Tebow, the Jets may have the most talked about and most scrutinized quarterback...

Kobe, Gasol lose horse to QB Brees

A horse named Siempre Mio has gone from one MVP owner to another. The 4-year-old gelding raced Sunday at Betfair Hollywood Park with 2008 NBA MVP Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles Lakers teammate Pau Gasol among his owners. Upon crossing the finish line in second place, he belonged to 2009 NFL MVP Drew Brees and his partners. Yes, Brees claimed a racehorse away from Bryant and Gasol...

Latest Saints offseason setback: backup QB Daniel injured

Now starting at quarterback for the New Orleans Saints ... Sean Canfield? It was only minicamp, but that was the reality for the Saints Wednesday. With Drew Brees away until his contract situation is resolved and backup Chase Daniel watching with his right hand bandaged because of a hairline fracture of his throwing-hand thumb, the Saints' offense looked nothing like the precision...

Ex-MLB pitcher teaching QBs to throw

The NFL's hottest quarterback guru is tinkering with Tom Brady, Carson Palmer and Drew Brees. The catch about the man who has the ear of these megastar signal callers: He's a baseball pitching coach.
