Peyton Manning is frequently lauded as the best quarterback in football and for being extraordinarily media-friendly. On Saturday, he failed to live up to his reputation on both accounts. Manning turned the ball over three times in the Denver Broncos’ 38-35 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the divisional round of the playoffs. He went 28-43 for 290 yards and three touchdowns, but he lost a fumbles and threw two picks — including one that led to Baltimore’s winning field goal in the second overtime period. After the extraordinary game, CBS host James Brown said Manning declined a postgame interview with the network. “Our announcers Greg and Dan made an effort to talk to Peyton Manning after the game, but he declined to be interviewed,” Brown said on the CBS postgame show. If I were in Peyton’s shoes, I certainly wouldn’t want to be interviewed after losing in the playoffs, either. However, he gets credited for being extremely media-friendly, so it should also be pointed out ...

  • Doesn't surprise me. We lost a lot of respect for him after the Super Bowl when he did not shake Drew Brees' hand. I have never seen that before. He throws int.,loses playoff game, doesn't show good sportsmanship. Sounds very familiar.
  • I can't believe the play calling for Manning when they ran the ball three times and turned it over. The end of the game was gutless for Denver.
  • I had an email correspondence several years ago when Peyton was during that "Cut that meat!" commercial with one of the Indianapolis sportswriters. One of the things he said was "I see him everyday in a way most people do not and the less said about that the better."

Ravens DL zings Peyton Manning

Ravens defensive lineman Paul Kruger took a shot at Peyton Manning on Twitter after his team beat the Broncos. See what he said.

How will Peyton Manning react to the cold weather today?

This is one of the more interesting questions as the NFL kicks off its divisional playoffs later today. Peyton Manning’s record in cold weather games hasn’t been great, and now we hear he’ll be wearing gloves for this playoff game. The Broncos are heavy favorites today as they host the Ravens, and many Ravens fans and those betters taking the points are hoping Peyton will freeze...

Should the Denver Broncos really be the Super Bowl favorites?

Is Brady a better bet than the Broncos?Peyton Manning and company have won 11 consecutive games.  They've got home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and the best odds (11/4) of any NFL team to win the Super Bowl.  But should they really be considered the team most likely to win it all? It's possible their winning streak  has a lot to do with their schedule.  They...

The Assist: Peyton Manning & Ray Lewis share a moment following Ravens double-overtime win over the Broncos

The Ravens shocked football fans on Saturday by taking down the Denver Broncos who came out of the gate strong and from the outset looked to be setting the tone. The Ravens kept their cool and battled back in double overtime to defeat the Broncos 38-35. And while much was made about Peyton Manning’s nine [...]

Graham picks off Manning, gives Ravens lead

That was quick. On their third offensive play of the game, Denver quarterback Peyton Manning threw a pick-six to cornerback Corey Graham. Graham’s interception gave the Ravens a 14-7 lead with less than 10 minutes left in the first quarter. The interception was set up by a Chykie Brown tipped pass.

Round Table: Saturday Rooting

Who will you be rooting for on Saturday?  Baltimore or Denver? Raj:  I got a lot of criticism for fellow Patriots fans on twitter for my decision to root for the Ravens last Sunday and that isn't changing. One reason is because Ray Rice carried Rutgers to glory and I am a Jersey guy. Pride apart, I also rooted for the Ravens because let's be honest, who is a much tougher...

Divisional Saturday previews

The Ravens and Broncos will feature a bit of a chess match between Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis, two of the biggest names in the game. The night game, Green Bay at San Francisco, features quarterbacks with two very different levels of experience.

Denver can still host Super Bowl despite chilly weather

On a day where Broncos fans are depressed over their teams heartbreaking playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens, there is some good news for fans hoping to see Denver host a Super Bowl. On Saturday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was in Denver to personally feel the Rocky Mountain chill, and he actually liked what he felt. "My personal view is, the game of football

Broncos, Seahawks: Nightmare at the 31-second mark

When you think about it, 31-seconds is not a lot of time. Most commercials run about 30 seconds. “Wait a minute,” is composed of two 30-second halves. But, as we know, 31-seconds can last an eternity, just ask Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson. Both teams were 31 seconds from victory and advancing to their conference championship game. But 31-seconds can be an eternity in the...

Protecting Peyton: Yes, the Denver Broncos are eliminated… but lets put the legacy talk in perspective

The morning after the Baltimore Ravens came from behind to beat the top seeded Broncos at home the discussion isn’t about Joe Flacco’s impressive run of recent playoff success; nor is it about Denver’s interesting clock management decisions that came back to haunt them, it is centered on Peyton Manning’s legacy - but disparaging the quarterback is misguided...
