Maybe it is too soon. Maybe it isn't. But if you were to judge Peyton Manning's performance last night against the Steelers, you would have to say he's back. And this wasn't some pansy defense. This was the Steelers.

Manning threw for 253 yards and two scores. In the second quarter, he even ran to the right for seven yards and a first down. The Broncos won 31-19, but it was closer until the Broncos erupted in the fourth quarter for 17 points.

It wasn't four hundred yards and four touchdowns, but the Broncos played smart football. They had a good mix of rush versus pass. Manning had 26 pass attempts, and they had 23 rush attempts not including Manning's. The biggest take away for the Broncos, though, was their defense. They only allowed Pittsburgh two get rushing first downs. Pittsburgh was also forced into 19 third down conversion attempts.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who is a pretty mobile quarterback, was also sacked five times.

Maybe Manning did make the right decision in going to Denver. Maybe he saw something there he only saw a few times in Indianapolis. Defense.
