Tonight, it was vintage Peyton.

In his first game back in over a year after neck surgery – and his first as quarterback of the Broncos – Peyton Manning looked like the Peyton of old in leading Denver to an impressive 31-19 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Manning looked in complete control of the offense, directing the show in the no-huddle, and going 19 of 26 for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns … including the 400th (and 401st) TD of his career.  He led the Broncos back from a 19-14 deficit early in the 4th quarter, and did so with ruthless efficiency, including a 71-yard pitch and catch to Demaryius Thomas that put Denver ahead for good.

In one game, the Broncos faithful have instantly forgotten about Tebowmania, raised their expectations for the season to unreasonably high levels, and can expect that the bandwagon will get even more crowded now that Manning is driving.

And in case there was any doubt that Peyton was feeling it tonight, we got this instant classic GIF:

Peyton Manning corn maze in Colorado

Just last week, I tweeted, "If there's a worse town in Colorado than Greeley, I haven't been to it." And I say that as somebody that lives in Colorado, and has for the last 15+ years now. While in most towns you might notice a landmark or something other than an official town sign to make you realize you've arrived in a town, you know you're in Greeley when...

The Sunday night game at Denver between the Steelers and Broncos game was the highest-rated "Sunday Night Football" game ever and tied the 2010 NFL Kickoff opener as the highest-rated regular-season NFL game ever on NBC. Manning throws 400th career TD pass

Denver quarterback Peyton Manning has become the third player in NFL history to throw 400 career touchdown passes. Peyton joined Dan Marino and Brett Favre in the select group when he connected with wide receiver Demaryius Thomas for 71 yards early in third quarter to give Denver a 14-13 lead. Favre has 508 career TD passes and Marino has 420. Manning is the fastest to accomplish...

Denver Broncos News Vote here for Peyton Manning as the GMC Never Say Never Moment for Week 1. [NFL.com] The Denver Broncos have added a sixth center to their roster yesterday by signing Dan Koppen. Tiny & Co Need to be Huge

Fitting as I begin to type this story that Peyton Manning is playing football. For many Vol fans, any mention of Peyton can't help but conjure up hatred for the "Mighty Gators" from Gainesville.  This Saturday, Tennessee welcomes Florida to The Hill after defeating FBS neophyte Georgia State 51-13 to move their season record to 2-0.  Against the Panthers, Bray was...

Peyton Manning: The Colts' Trash Turns Into Broncos' Treasure

We all wondered, so did Broncos President John Elway, head coach John Fox and his dad, Archie Manning. Is it gone? Did he lose the magic? For thirteen years, Peyton Manning spoiled us. As quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, he helped create a dynasty. In those thirteen years, the Colts made the playoffs eleven times. They won their division eight times , made it to the AFC championship...

Replacement officials mess up two-minute warning rule

TheRedZone.org pointed out a big mistake the replacement officials made in Sunday night’s Steelers – Broncos match up. No matter how much the NFL tries to mask it, the replacement officials continue to struggle.  Another case in point from last night’s Broncos 31-19 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Peyton Manning and the Broncos scored a touchdown late in the fourth...
