Extra Pine Tar:
Stephen A Smith
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Peyton Manning knows what he likes in his offensive weapons. It’s why players like Austin Collie and Jacob Tamme were able to step right in and be big time producers. If you run the routes, and do what Peyton asks when he’s yelling gibberish at the line of scrimmage, then he’s going to get the ball to you, and more often then not – it’s going to be exactly where you need it.
Now Peyton has a new team, a new offense and new weapons, but the general idea will be the same. He’ll throw to players that he’s already seen before whether he knows it or not. Before Austin Collie there was Anthony Gonzalez, and before that Brandon Stokley roamed the slot. Each time someone new stepped in, Manning didn’t miss a beat.
The same thing will happen in Denver. Peyton Manning will mold each player in to a clone of every receiver he’s ever had. It’s what Peyton Manning does and it’s why I think the Broncos will be a fantasy football haven.
He will be playing the role of Reggie Wayne ...

Peyton Manning has dealt with pressure before. He has lived with the burden of carrying the Indianapolis Colts as the team's franchise player for 13 seasons. He knows what it's like to win a Super Bowl, and knows the sting of a Super Bowl loss. Even with all of his experience, Manning is entering uncharted waters in his career. The quarterback is coming back from significant...
Quarterback Peyton Manning took part in his first training camp practice with the Broncos on Thursday, calling it "another step" as he works toward returning to game action for the first time since 2010. Manning said he is passed the emotional part of leaving the Colts and is focused solely on getting prepared for the season. "I haven't gotten too nostalgic...
Peyton Manning's arm strength looks just fine. It's his timing with his new targets that's the biggest question mark facing the four-time MVP as he embarks on his comeback with the Denver Broncos.
Manning doesn't appear bothered by the nerve injury in his neck that led to a series of operations, sapped his power and sidelined the league's most durable active...
Peyton Manning's first full practice in pads in 18 months drew rave reviews from his coaches and teammates -- and at least one suggestion that his health is no longer even an issue.
Manning put on an aerial show with Broncos wide receiver Eric Decker and others Saturday morning in the latest milestone to his comeback from a nerve injury that cost him all of last season and led...
Anybody watching the NFL's coverage of the opening of training camps this week got an eyeful of Peyton Manning going through what amounted to quarterback calisthenics.
Not real exciting, but at least as interesting as regular season Major League Baseball.
Now, what might have made it more interesting than baseball is if Tim Tebow hadn't been dealt out of the...
Peyton Manning can't do this all by himself.
Denver's defense will have to do its part if the Broncos are going to have the special kind of season so many expect of them. Football chief John Elway swapped unconventional quarterback Tim Tebow for the only four-time MVP in NFL history, seeking to add to the two Super Bowl trophies he won during his Hall of Fame playing career...
Manning has been cleared for full participation in camp and no one expects a set back. The neck is strong and the nerves have regenerated. He's good to go...but you shouldn't discount the fact that this guy has had three neck surgeries and sat out a year.

The Denver Broncos donned the pads for the first time Saturday morning, and the sound of popping hard plastic echoed across the fields of Dove Valley. “It’s not really football when you don’t have pads on,” rookie defensive lineman Derek Wolfe agreed. They...
It is no secret that the Oakland Raiders have some question marks heading into the 2012 season.
A “W” on the schedule following at least the majority of these five games will be crucial if the Raiders' hope to make the postseason.
5. September 30th @Denver Broncos - Peyton Manning will take the field for the first time against the Raiders with home-field advantage...
The Denver Broncos held their first training camp practice of the Peyton Manning era on Thursday morning and it didn't go without massive fanfare. The Broncos drew 4,372 fans, setting a record for the Broncos' Dove Valley location. The previous record set was on August 1st, 2010 when 3,103 fans came to see Tim Tebow in his rookie season.
There were other tidbits of note...
The Indianapolis Colts have started their rebuilding process, preparing for life without QB Peyton Manning. The Colts however have a great player to build around at the quarterback position in Stanford rookie, Andrew Luck. Luck was one of the most highly touted rookies entering the draft since perhaps his predecessor Manning or Broncos QB John Elway. Luck enters this season with...
Great players have graced the gridiron in the past 50 years. When discussing great college football players that have adorned the same number, the conversation can become exhausting. Some jersey numbers throughout sports are synonymous with greatness.
For example, No. 1: Larry Fitzgerald (Pitt) and Warren Moon (Washington) were two of the best athletes to touch the pigskin in college...
NFL training camps have started throughout the league and most eyes are fixated on Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and RG3 and how they’re going to do with their new teams. In addition to these big three, there are also a bunch of other players who have the potential to make huge impacts on their new teams. Some are rookies like Luck and RG3 and others are veterans like Manning and...
Marylou Belles of Bethel, Conn. died back on July 13. According to her obituary which we read on the Daily Courier-Observer’s website, she battled cancer for 27 years before passing away on Friday the 13th — which was described as a “perfect day” for it since she was a big Stephen King fan. Belles’ obituary also said that she “gave cancer the finger,” but that wasn’t...
