Peyton Manning Refuses to Give Tom Brady TV Advice
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady is about to embark on a new career by joining long-time pal/nemesis Peyton Manning in the world of the NFL on TV.

QBs on national TV? It is an exclusive club. Troy Aikman tops it. Terry Bradshaw is there. Tony Romo is there. Manning has carved out a unique role with his "ManningCast.'' And now here comes Brady, who won seven Super Bowls during his illustrious playing career, set to join the FOX NFL booth this fall. ...

And all he wants from Manning is a little advice.

And Manning is refusing. How rude! But wait ...

"He's reached out to me for advice," Manning told The Athletic's Andrew Marchand. "I said, 'Tom, I watch football from my neighbor's garage on Monday nights. I'm not sure I'm worthy of being called for advice for what you're about to do."

Manning has a point. Brady, the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback, will play a conventional role calling the biggest NFL games of the week on FOX from the booth with Kevin Burkhardt as he play-by-play guy.

Manning, on the other hand, does his own "Monday Night Football'' broadcast with his brother, Eli. ... in a sense, "from his neighbor's garage.''

Brady has received a thumbs-up from many on his future here; Stephen A. Smith is among his endorsers. And he's called some of the biggest names in the game for advice.

But ultimately, Brady will be best off being himself. And Manning is best off hanging out in the garage.
