Peyton Manning is more than just really good at throwing footballs and making flapping gestures at the line of scrimmage. He also has a fairly impressive recall of football history, which he showed off Thursday night.
After passing for seven touchdowns in the Broncos’ season-opening victory over the Ravens, Manning was asked about becoming the first quarterback in 44 years to find the endzone that many times. Without being given any time to do a little research, Manning demonstrated that he not only knew the name of the last QB to do so, but also remembered a little dustup the senior signal-caller was involved in.
“Yeah, Joe Kapp, great Canadian quarterback out of Cal,” Manning said. “Kicked the crap out of a guy on YouTube a couple years ago.”
Sure enough, Kapp — whom Bill Cosby once compared to Tim Tebow — did exchange blows with Angelo Mosca at a CFL event a few years ago. Check it out in the video below.

Not quite yet. Although the game was incredible feat getting a little revenge on the Super Bowl champions, which entailed the 49-27 score, the most the Baltimore Ravens have ever given up in a game, there were a lot of “rookie” mistakes that still need to be resolved before the Broncos can be considered a Super Bowl caliber team, although they are one of the top contenders...
Welcome to the 2013 season, folks. The Broncos put it to the Ravens in the season opener on Thursday Night Football (or Sunday Night Football on Thursday Night or whatever it was called). Peyton Manning won the Poster War. Manning was hanging in banner form back turned to his enemy pictured in the classic quarterback pose a glove missing from his right passing hand.
The other poster controversially hanging outside the stadium that Denver-area taxpayers and Broncos owner Pat Bowlen built was Joe Flacco. He represented the bane of what Denver fans wish for.
Here are four fantasy revelations from the Broncos' 49-27 thumping of the Ravens on Thursday, which included an NFL-record-tying performance from Peyton Manning.
1. Even in hindsight, it's hard to feel guilty about Manning's No. 8 ranking for the week
Of his nine previous season openers, Manning (462 yards passing, seven TDs vs. Baltimore) had thrown for 2,529 yards...
You know when you are playing Madden and you are unstoppable, well last night Peyton Manning has that feeling. At least in the second half. Believe it or not the Denver Broncos were actually losing at halftime 17-14. If you stopped watching the game after the first quarter when you saw the miscommunication between Peyton Manning and the Broncos wide outs, you would be stunned when...
Broncos fans have to be encouraged by the performance of Peyton Manning and the Denver offense, particularly in the second half of the opener Thursday night. Manning joined rare company in having thrown for seven touchdowns in a game – only five others have accomplished that feat.

“Yeah, he did okay...
The editor at the Columbus Dispatch obviously was asleep at the wheel when they were going through this article talking about the Denver Broncos-Baltimore Ravens game. The title of the article said “Elway Throws For Seven Touchdown passes” and the first two words of the article are “Peyton Manning.” Then the next paragraph starts with “Elway” and the following one...
The Broncos have three tailbacks competing for playing time. The
winner may be the one who best protects Peyton Manning.
“It’s here! It’s here! ” , I scream, as I run downstairs in my Eagles print footy pajamas. Nothing feels quite so much as Christmas Day did as a kid than the first day of the NFL season. Feelings about the blasphemy of the Thursday night game aside, kickoff will begin tonight between the reigning champ Baltimore and thePeyton Manning led Denver.
Make sure you have your...
Peyton Manning's new weapon, Wes Welker, is listed as probable for Thursday night's season opener.Fantasy Spin:Welker has been dealing an ankle sprain, but he was always expected to be ready for Week 1 after avoided the dreaded high-ankle sprain.
Despite getting blown out by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, the Baltimore Ravens suffered a lot more than a 47-29 loss. Ravens’ star player and Super Bowl XLVII “hero” Jacoby Jones suffered an apparent MCL sprain after accidentally colliding with teammate Brynden Trawick while trying to catch a punt early in the second quarter.
