Peyton Who? Matt Schaub's dominating AFC South QBs

Since the Texans' loss to Tennessee, my roommate has been on my back over some comments I made about Matt Schaub (something to the effect of, "If he keeps this crap up, Sage might be starting soon"). Apparently he's been under the impression that I threw Schaub under the bus and was scouting for a replacement. Let's get one thing straight. I've liked the guy since day 1. He definitely started slow out of the gate this season, but I'd say he's knocked the rust off and gotten his feet under him by now. By that I mean he's a beast. He's doing a better Peyton Manning impression that Peyton Manning right now. In fact, as of right now, Matt Schaub is the best QB in the AFC South. That's right, I said it. THE BEST. Schaub is 6th overall in the league in completion percentage (67.8%) and 4th overall in yards per game (270.5). On top of that, he has the best QB rating in the division (92.6) and is tied with Peyton for the most TD passes (10). When you consider that Schaub was forced to sit out a game with an illness, then those numbers become even more impressive. Needless to say, Schaub has been playing like the quarterback Gary Kubiak and GM Rick Smith had bet on when they traded for him. At this point I really don't know where else to go with this because I'm still getting used to the idea that the Texans might have actually found a legitimate monster at QB. Now there's still plenty of football to be played this season, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Matt Schaub is the best QB in the AFC South. He still has a lot to prove before anyone can even think about usurping Manning from that role. But if he can continue to produce these kinds of numbers and sustain them throughout the second half of the season, the Texans could very well end up with their first ever winning season.
