PFF names the most underrated player on the Seattle Seahawks' roster
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Pro Football Focus recently named the most underrated player on each NFL roster and they went with a player that's returning from a season-ending injury for the Seattle Seahawks.

PFF thinks that edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu is the most underrated player on Seattle's roster.

Nwosu suffered a pectoral injury last season that limited him to just six games.

From PFF: Nwosu’s 2023 season was cut short due to an injury after just seven weeks, but he might still be Seattle’s best pass rusher. The former Los Angeles Charger will be looking to get back to his 2022 form when he earned a 74.0 overall grade in his first year in Seattle, which ranked 27th among edge defenders.

Nwosu started his career with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2018. The Chargers selected Nwosu with the No. 48 overall selection (Round Two) in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The former USC standout was solid with the Chargers, totaling 15 sacks during his four seasons in Los Angeles.

Nwosu, however, had a breakout season in Seattle in 2022 after signing a two-year deal with the Seahawks. The California native set career-highs with 66 total tackles and 9.5 sacks in 2022, leading to a three-year extension for Nwosu ahead of the 2023 season.

There's a new staff in Seattle this season, with Mike Macdonald replacing Pete Carroll as the franchise's head coach. Macdonald was previously the Baltimore Ravens' defensive coordinator.

The Ravens led the NFL in sacks last season with Macdonald running the defense. That should bode well for Nwosu's chances of a bounce-back season in 2024.
