PFF says Chicago Bears landed one of the biggest steals in the 2024 NFL Draft
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Pro Football Focus thinks the Chicago Bears landed one of the biggest steals of the 2024 NFL Draft.

It's not often that a top 10 draft pick is labeled as a "steal", but that's how PFF views Chicago's selection of Washington Huskies wide receiver Rome Odunze with the No. 9 overall pick.

From PFF: Despite the Bears having just four picks in this year’s draft, the first eight selections put the team in a dream scenario. Rome Odunze fell into their lap at No. 9, with the Washington product having been in the conversation with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers as the best receiver in the class.

Able to win at all three levels and do some damage after the catch, Odunze recorded a 15.5-yard average depth of target, a 4.17 yards per route run mark and a 75% contested-catch rate last season. He rounds out the Bears' receiving room with a dynamic threat for No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.

In most years, Odunze would probably be a top five draft pick. But the presence of Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr and LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers, along with four quarterbacks getting selected with the top eight picks, led to the former Washington standout landing with the Bears at No. 9 overall.

The Bears now feature a wide receiver group that includes Odunze, Keenan Allen, and DJ Moore.

That's a nice group of players for No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams to throw the ball to.
